The Million Dollar Wiki

Posted on 09. Aug, 2007 by in Business Advice

Every year there is one novelty website idea that becomes a media sensation and makes the young entrepreneur in question very rich.

We all remember the million dollar homepage, well Graham Langdon, 21 year old senior from the University of Connecticut has taken it one step further and created the “Million Dollar Wiki“.

The concept is simple: A wikipedia style site, but instead of letting everyone edit it, each person can buy a term e.g “Internet marketing” and that becomes their page.

I suppose the attraction for the webmasters is the publicity and the ability to include their own links. If this project takes off, then the trust rank will ensure that these pages rank well.

Graham hopes to sell 10,000 pages at $100 each. Thus far he has sold 158 and has made $15,800.

This is yet another case of “Why didn’t I think of that?”

I had thought of something similar, but it was more of a social networking site. As usual, I never got started. I like this wiki idea, and I think there’s room in the market for my new idea.

    DAMN!

I thought of that idea almost after seeing the Million Dollar Homepage but dismissed it after thinking that people wouldn’t pay for a page on someone else’s domain.

    Ah well …

Now, I’ve thought of a better idea on the same theme … :o )

I still don’t get the big hype about the site, the guy is ripping people off of $100 in my opinion and I’ve got so many reason to why (or how) he is that its not even funny. And the fact he states “copycat” sites trying to (I guess you could say) “steal” his idea but none impressing him… who cares, he stole the concept from Million Dollar Pixel, and yet he says that everyone of the copycat sites cannot come up with an original idea. Ha ha, Graham, what was you thinkin when you said that? Your idea is NOT ORIGINAL. Its a rip from MDP… really, get a clue.

I bought a Million Dollar Wiki page. I actually own the Marketing Page and so far, I’ve already made my $100 back. It’s pretty neat, there is full support for every issue you could possibly have and, well I’m not the only one who has made my $100 back. In fact, I now have a coupon code so people can get $5 off of their page purchases. The code is: k5webworks, If you want to buy a page, just punch this code in on the checkout page and you just saved 5 bucks. Anyway, I belive MDW has now reached over 380 pages sold. Graham is a pretty smart guy in my book.

I thought the whole thing was a joke/scam, but if he’s actually making some sales, claiming a page now is something to think about…

The Money page on the Million Dollar wiki is showing people and how much they have earned from their page. I like the few people on there that have earned nothing or the one guy who earn 10 cents http://www.milliondollarwiki.com/Money
