Today we are speaking with Stumbleupon top user: SCVbloggirl

How long have you been an active user of StumbleUpon?
Since Feb 2007

What makes you use StumbleUpon more than the other social sites suchs Digg, Del.icio.us etc…?
I don’t use it more than, I use it in addition to.

If you could make one positive change to the current Stumbeupon platform, what would it be?
Allow more than 200 mutual friends.

What don’t you like about the current StumbleUpon platform?
It only allows you to have 200 mutual friends.

What are the main factors you look for in content that you feel is orth stumbling?
Quality, Appealing to look at, easy to read. I like it when a story
has a picture that I can photostumble.

Is there anything that puts you off stumbling an article?
If the page looks spammy or has flash or pop ups I won’t stumble it.

What sort of topics interest you the most?

Internet, real estate, photography, sports

What advice would you give to a brand new user of Stumbleupon?
Participate. Don’t just join and then forget about it. Download the
toolbar and use it everyday.

Do you ever get thanked by the site owners after you stumble their content?

Not yet.

Has anyone ever tried to bribe you into stumbling their content?
No bribes, but I get asked to stumble a lot.

Do you own a website? And if so, what have been your biggest tumbleUpon successes from your site?
What are your thoughts on stumbling your own content?
I think if the content is good and can help the community, then go for
it. Just don’t make that be the only thing you stumble.

What are your thoughts on Linkbait and people creating content with he sole aim of getting traffic from sites like Stumbleupon?
I think it’s fantastic. Social Marketing is a new industry. It’s
created jobs and increased the use of sites like SU.

Are you influenced by factors like authority of the website, design of the website etc? And if so, what sort of things do you specifically look for?
I don’t look at authority as much as I look at the design. I don’t
like flash on any site. I am immediately prompted to hit the back
button. A site has to be easy to use and not full of clutter.
Loading time is also a factor.

Why do you feel you are in the top 30 most powerful users of StumbeUpon?

Hmmm. Not sure why they picked me, but I love being a top stumbler.
If I had to guess, I think it’s because I spread the word to friends
about sites I like and they usually respond positively.

What advice would you give to anyone who wanted to get into the top 30?

Use the different features of SU. Use the toolbar, make friends,
message friends, and send them quality sites.

Good luck with your post!
