Older Generation Online Success
Posted on 16. Feb, 2007 by DeanHunt in Business Advice
It is not often that us young guns are in a position to give advice to the older generations, so I take a great deal of joy from introducing my tips for online success for the older generation.

One of the biggest Youtube stories of 2006 was from a guy called Geriatric1927, who was 80 years old and was video blogging on Youtube. Geriatric not only managed to blog on Youtube but he also taught himself how to use the video editing software, went to advanced art classes at a local college, and is now trying to learn a new language. All at the tender age of 80.
The purpose of this article is not to patronise the older entrepreneurs, but I strongly believe that age is not a factor when it comes to making money online.
So if you have a bus pass and a pension then these tips are for you
Interpensioner tip number 1 : Do something that you already know.
Don’t waste time trying to learn new things, there are surely numerous things you can share with the world. Instead, Pick an industry that you are already knowledgable and experienced in.
Interpensioner tip number 2 : Pick something that you enjoy
This applies to almost any age bracket, but doing something that you love is the key to maintaining motivation and interest in your projects.
Interpensioner tip number 3 : Catch up on technology
Technology is not something to be afraid of. My generation has had a lot of advantages in this departament, but if you are going to make an impression, then you really will need to grasp the basics. There may be a lot of gadgets and gizmos available, but the vast majority exist to make your life easier, so use them!
Interpensioner tip number 4 : Don’t gamble financially
The great thing about working online is that it has broken down many of the entry barriers into numerous markets. For example, you could have your own Ebay business within an hour of reading this, the cost will be next to nothing. Rely more on your knowledge and enthusiasm than your bank balance.
