In this post I will share with you one of the most powerful blogging techniques of the past two years….. THE LUST FOR LISTS

If you use sites like Digg.com then you will notice that there are many, many list based articles. I typed “Top 10″ into Digg and got thousands of results, so this is clearly one of the most popular techniques used on sites like Digg.

Unless you DON’T want hundreds of thousands of extra visitors to your site, it may be worth taking notice of this trend. Next time you are writing a blog article, ask yourself if you could make it into an interesting list based article.

So why does the list based article work so well?

Some people think that the users like bite sized chunks of information, they want to know exactly what the article is about and they want the info ASAP. By putting it into a list you know exactly what you are going to get, and it is a very easy read.

Another theory is based on the title of the article. Having a title like “Top 10 Games of all time” is certainly more appealing than “Great games that I like”.

Don’t overuse this method, but having the occasional list based article on your blog is a surefire way of getting some link love.
